The Hunt for Cheap, Reliable Brokers

The hunt is on. I'll be researching more about online brokers that are: 1) free from maintenance fees, 2) free from expensive commissions, and 3) reliable.

I've found a few leads through online reviews. As I get more info, I'll post them here.

The reason for my rising interest (no pun intended) in online brokers is that I made a deal with my nephew, who is 11. My broker, E*Trade, is reliable. Yet, a commision is $12.99. Since my nephew is showing an interest in stocks, even willing to dig for basic fundamental numbers inside many companies, I'm going to invest $100 each month for him.

He'll choose how to spend the $100 based on his research and a little of uncle's input. He already knows what stocks he'll buy in Month 1. But first, I'm going to find a discount broker that won't take an arm and leg in costs.

All feedback is more than welcome.
