Longshots: Hoku Scientific

HOKU 9.39 +0.32 (+3.5%)
50-day SMA: 10.04 | 100-day SMA: 9.63 | 200-day SMA: 8.72
The rate cuts can only help Hoku Scientific in the long run, and yesterday's contract extension with Sanyo is huge. All the ducks are lined up, and if Hoku nails each and every one, 8 bucks for a share (last week) was a steal. I'm looking for HOKU at 9.

Longshots: E-Trade

ETFC 4.97 +0.41 (+9.0%)
50-day SMA: 3.77 | 100-day SMA: 7.64
E-Trade's future is almost certainly fated to a buyout/takeover, but the question is when. The stock plunged below 3 recently, which was absolutely preposterous, and value investors dove in head-first. At 4.97, with seven straight up days, ETFC is due for a pullback. With the Fed rate cut, it'll be hard to get another bargain price (below 3).

Longshots: Optimal Group

OPMR 4.05 +0.02 (+0.5%)
50-day SMA: 3.97 | 100-day SMA: 4.40 | 200-day SMA: 5.88
Plenty of cash on hand for this unprofitable (so far) company. My friend, Deminvestments loves this stock. I need to do more homework.

Longshots: XM Satellite Radio

XMSR 12.40 +0.49 (+4.1%)
XM Satellite Radio hit a rough patch along with most of the market in recent weeks and touched 10 a few times. That was a prime buying opportunity for believers — which I'm not. At 12.40, XMSR is nearing its moving averages and quite a risk considering the uncertainty of its pending merger with Sirius. I'm not a subscriber, nor do I think people are really gung-ho about paying for radio in a massive way. Niche market all the way.
