Countdown to Verizon iPhone

At 7 a.m. Eastern time, the might and stupendosity of Verizon iPhone will be upon us. Those of us on the East Coast.

Here in Hawaii, five hours later, Appleholics will get their paws on the new stuff.

Update 9:58 am (Hawaii). I got up roughly 2+ hours ago while AAPL was nicely trading above 358. The last I'd checked while the sun wasn't up yet (while here on my bed), shares were in the 355-356 area. So it behooved me from a short-term standpoint to exit the position above 358. But I watched. Then shares sold off in big spurts at 358, then at 357, in similar fashion to the mid-session selloff (that was later met by buyers who took AAPL to 359).

AAPL has dipped below 357, but held its ground, now at 357.38. Easy to run out of the building here with a solid two-day profit, nothing huge, but nice. Does AAPL maintain momentum in a slightly down market through the final hour today and tomorrow morning? Cameras will be pointing at Apple and Wal-Mart stores at 7 am Eastern when Verizon iPhones hit the street. Media coverage does matter to the stock price, albeit on a temporary time frame.

How much effect came from the words of Nokia's CEO, who supposedly wrote to employees that "our platform is burning"? The winds favor AAPL in just about every direction. I remain in favor of no position overnight, but I also remain flexible.

Update, 11:09 am (Hawaii). More Verizon vs. AT&T info.

Update, Thursday, 1:34 am (Hawaii). The countdown to Verizon iPhone is almost over. On the East Coast, Appleholics will storm the doors of beautiful Apple stores to claim their precious new toys that will not drop calls constantly. AAPL, like the rest of the Nasdaq, is trading down in premarket, currently at 356 even. Retail small fries like me can't trade AAPL this early, not for another (almost) 90 minutes, so I'm taking a break. I'll watch any (possible) footage of iPhone lines from the gym, then hammer out a game plan for the morning. Could've sold my position at almost a 2% profit yesterday (not bad for 24 hours), but opted to wait until today. Then CSCO laid a stink egg on the rest of the kids in the classroom, and techs are sliding. I'll get out rather than take a loss if AAPL takes falls that far and wait for a better entry point.
