Amazon soaring into orbit

Whoa Nellie ...

If and when Jeff Bezos and his crew pilot that long-planned trip to the moon, that's what they should name their spacecraft.

Whoa Nellie. It would be fitting. For a second quarter in a row, Bezos and the Amazon team defied bears and shorts by beating earnings estimates. This time around, AMZN tripled profits. TRIPLED.

Today's post-market announcement sent Amazon's stock to the moon, from a $69.25 close to a current $77.24 in after-hours trading. Short interest is 15%.

Quite a day for Amazon longs, who saw their shares close at $71.74 yesterday. AMZN sunk to $68.85 during today's early selloff.

Another suggestion to Bezos and crew. Play Frank Sinatra's Fly me to the Moon during the trip. And thank all your shortie friends for the means for such exquisite travel.

EdgarOnline: Amazon's 8-K.

Disclaimer: Pupule Paul has no position in AMZN.
