Brew Review: Trauqair House Ale

Traquair House Ale (Scotland)
Appearance (0 to 4 stars): 4. Beautiful amber tone as it pours into the glass, but as a whole, takes on a decidedly dark color, almost as dark as my brown leather couch.
Aroma: 4. Slightly sweet.
Flavor: 3.5. On the first sip, it's the up there with the best. Second sip just can't match the first.
Texture: 4. Smooth, just a little bit of carbonation to stimulate the palate, but overall, rich and tasty.
Drinkability: 4.

Overall score: 19.5 out of a possible 20. Well worth the extra bucks.

Cost: $6.
On the label: Merchant Du Vin Corp. (Seattle, WA) ... "A handmade ale brewed in the ancient brew house of the oldest inhabited house in Scotland."
Summary: A visit to the Traquair site and it's no wonder the brew is so exquisite. They use water from a spring on the hilly property. Fermented in oak barrels for seven days. I'd love to visit the brewery.

The great photos below come from the Traquair site, which provides a lot of cool insights and information about the brewery's history. I would love to visit Traquair one day. It would make for a great trip to Scotland.
